Sensitivity to Death

The longer Elie Wiesel is in the concentration camp, the more desensitized he becomes to death and dying. For example, he and some of the other prisoners are thinking of soup while a man is being hanged. How do you feel this relates to today's society? Do you feel that the people are less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others? What things do you see that are making people feel like death is not a big deal or that suffering is inevitable and, therefore, necessary? Are there some things you may be doing that are making this problem worse? Explain.

    Yes. People have definitely changed since the 1950's. There are violent video games that allow kids to kill other people and beat them without any remorse. Sometimes I play games like this, or write violent books, or even get violent myself and not really care who I hurt. Not caring will make people insensitive to death, and can destroy a nation.

    People has really change since 1950s, people see violence everywhere. By, people seeing death so much when people do die it really doens't effect them at all and things such as video games, television show and etc, show so much death people really doens't know when to really show emotions or anything. I think I maybe doing little things such as playing the video games of people killing people for no reason at all.

    I think it relates to today's society because people are always thinking about themselves, and not about others. They probably don't care about others suffering, as long as they live. It seems like death is not a big deal, when he's thinking about soup when someone is about to be killed. I may be making the problem worse by turning from the news when they are talking about the war that is going on across the world.

    In today's society people are selfish and really don't care about others. I feel that the people don't feel the pain and suffering of others because they think more about them self. people feel like death is not big deal because every day some one dies and if its not them then it doesn't really matter to them. I don't think i am making this problem worse because i try to help every one i can ....

    I Think this past years and now people have change some how.People today care but other people doesn't care because they are so selfish that they don't care about others.
    Little kids have change too because of the new things have invented the video games and tv shows and other things all of this make them react for a diferent way.

    It's not the same from that time too now because back then people were in a concentration camp, they were being killed and they were starving. Today people don't starve they find a way to eat and we are not in a concentration camp. people this days are less sensitive because they don't care about others. People feel like death is not a big deal because everyday people die and they act like nothing has happen or they don't think in how or when are they are going to die.

    I believe that what happened in the story night can relate to today's society because, some people are harsh and don't have any feelings for others. People are less sensitive to others pain and suffering because they are selfish and don't care about anything. For example in gangs you have to do many bad things and gang related people do not care about anything because they do bad things and harm others without not even feeling bad. Things that I see today that makes it seem that death is not a big thing is how people talk about it and feel like its something cool to do; some people in gangs feel like it is necessary to do bad things and not care about what they do. I believe that the way that I could be making this problem worse would be by being really mean and not caring about others or what they do to me, and if I would be thinking about revenge; but I don't think I'm doing any of that because i am a very nice, calm, sweet person. :)

    i believe that people these days only care about themselves because if there is a lot of people some where suffering others don't care as long as they trying to survive. i think that every time someone is being killed he eat the soup because he no longer wants to see that. because one day its going to be him so that's why he going to eat now before its to late.

    i think that over the years because of the death rate people have been dieing on diseases that doctors can't explain and now people feel that they are going to die sooner or later weather or not they want to and seeing people dieing is nothing new

    I believe that the story really relates to society today. If somebody dies people really wouldn't care for them. It's like well if someone dies, o well life move's on with out the person. I do play harmful games and i really don't think about the people that i killed on the game and the people don't show any emotions or anything.

    I think that the story does relates to us today. Because if someone dies the people will not care about them. And some people think that they are dead and well life goes on..And i guess back then they didnt care about other people except for theirsef.I Think there is something i am doing like playing games that kill people.

    I think that people only care about their selves these days. They don;t care what happen to people. Because I can say I don't care about everybody like that. I care about my family and friends. But I mean if i see a person getting hurt or pick on then I will say something about that. Things have change that's one thing I can say. Because, things are not as bad as they use to be. Millions of people getting killing at one time. People still get killed. But it is not as bad as it use to be. You can tell that people don;t care about each other because they murdered they own kind or a family member. That is sad. There are some things that are becoming worse and that is blood and crips, because people are turning against each other, and the war to.It is sad how people are there days. I think that they do it because, it is a lot of anger built up inside them.

    When people die this days some people care and some don't. People these days only care about themselves and living there life. It seems like death is not a big issue when all you think about is soup the whole time..

    I think the story relates to today's society because no one really cares about no one else but themselves. it's not bad as it use to be because back then millions of people where getting killed at a time i mean it still happens now but not as bad. I care bout my family and other because all i think is if that could be me or someone i really care about.

    I think that people just don't really care if killing is bad cause they kill each other or just kill family and they think killing someone is wroth it but actually it's not.and they do,'t even care about them self and other people.

    I think people do not care if killing is wrong or not, in these times which kills any person for anything because they do not care if his family suffer. for example those who are in prison do not care if they die or not that where they are is the same as if they are dead or alive
