Pictures Speak A Thousand Words
This discussion will help us to reflect on the YouTube clip we watched yesterday. There were a number of images that you saw; some may have reminded you of your family. Some were quite disturbing and graphic. With that said, what thoughts came to your mind when you saw the images? What words did these images speak to you? Please share with us which images stood out to you the most and why? Be as thorough in your expression as possible please.

When i looked at the video, lots of things came to my mind. The life we are living today is very secure, because the war back in those days were tragic. It was crazy how they were killing people. They burned bodies, and houses. People were thrown in fields, and used as fertilizer. They collected the peoples skulls and everything, it was dramatic, and it was also a bloodbath. I'm glad we don't have to go through that today, we are living the good life.
ReplyDeleteI seen Disturbing pictures, people smiling , very small people. I seen the concentration camp. I saw kids that don't know the very part of what's going on, maybe they don't know the holocaust is going on.
ReplyDeleteWhen i Seen The Video Yesterday i Was Kinda Sad and Mad at The Same Time Because i Wish they Never Went Through That Kinda Disaster But I Was Happy at The End Because They Was Happy also On Liberation When They Became FREE My Word for This Will Be sorrowful, doleful.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was very disturbing. I wouldn't wish that a pond everyone or thing. The things that I saw were unexplainable, like the thoughts that came to my mind were why?, why would someone do these things to people? Kill them just because they didn't like them. The image that stood out the most was the one when the people were standing together and they were really skinny like they hadn't ate for days, weeks even months maybe. It was very sad and my emotions were wrecked, felt like I wanted to cry. When I saw the image first thing I said was "eww", because I never seen anything like it.

ReplyDeleteWhen you look at the clips it really hurts one's feelings the fact of knowing or imagining the things all of those innocent people had to go throw just because they weren't like or for any reason at all its pitiful and at the same time its makes you think about the life we live we have great lives compared to what was going on back then.
ReplyDeleteWhen we saw the youtube clip yesterday it had just caught my attention. There were so many images that were very scary. I think that those people were going through a very hard time; they looked so sad,confused,innocent,cold,depressed, and mad because it wasn't fair what happened to them. The Jews were treated in such a bad, cruel way. The picture that stood out to me the most was one where there were men standing; they were very skinny, and looked as if they were wearing rags. The Jews went through such a cruel and unfair treatment; they were treated like animals. I believe that no one should be treated like that. So many died. There was a picture where there was so many dead people and on top of each other, stacked, and so skinny. They were very skinny. All of those images brought many things to my head, and it was very sad to see all of those people being tortured.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at the video on youtube, it was shocking, and it was disturbing. What they did was so wrong because they took away millions of lived. Some of them folks at first was happy and look like they was loving folks; then when it start happening they look sad, confused, scared, and some was dieing, and some was poor, and hungry. It was just so sad. They was killing so many folks, they did not care how old you was. And that was so wrong. Why it was wrong because why take away people lives that did not do nothing at all. There was so many folks bodies on top of each other. And that was sad. That hurt me to death to see what had happen.The one that survived still look sad, and they poorboy so rejoice that they did not die. It is a miracle.

When I saw the video, it was a shocker to me because they killed people and little children. The people looked confused,scared, and hurt. I was thinking i am glad that we don't have to go through that.

ReplyDeleteAs i was watching the video, i was thinking about a lot of things. There was some people happy, some sad. Just looking at the video would make you want to say why would they want to do people like that. You really couldn't tell females from males. The people were so skinny you could see their bones. The children looked like they didn't know what was going on. It was just sad.

ReplyDeleteWhat stuck out most when i watched the videos to me was how little the people were. To be that little you most not eat at all and that's what was going on. They were eating little and working a lot. Who would want to starve someone til their death? I just don't understand. These people were human just like any one else and yet they were treated like some out of space being. Thank GOD the Jews survived, no thanks to those low life that caused it though.
ReplyDeleteThose 2 videos we just watch made me think. From the barbed wire , crowded beds and even little children without their parents. It was cruel to see that. But what caught my eyes was the pictures of the skeletons of lost ones from the holocaust. "Never Again" was on a banner. It shows the Jews who survived the holocaust happy but doesn't want it to happen again. How will we know if it will happen again ?
ReplyDeleteThe video to me was shocking and showed what those poor people had to go through during that time. The image that stood out the most to me was the one with all the small, innocent children standing next to the barbed wire. It stood out to me because, how can you do that to a child who hasn't even thought a evil thought towards anyone. Another picture that stood out to me was the one with the mass graves. Its horrible how they can do that to all those people who haven't done a single mean thing towards the people who did this to them.
ReplyDeleteIt was heartbreaking to see how they treated people because of their religion, and how they looked. But what really stood out to me, is that some people still had enough strength to smile. If you're in such a horrible place like the concentration camps, and can still smile, that shows just how strong you are.
ReplyDeleteAs i was watching this video, it became very disturbing to me on how these Jews could smile for a picture in all that they were going through and another thing is how someone could stand there and take the picture. Seeing people who are starving, dead, and hopeless is what i expected to see which i did, its just that i seen so many people smiling as if they were use to the life style. were they use to the life style? Did they still have there faith? who knows...
ReplyDeleteThe video was definitely an eye opener. The images of those Jews cold, starving, unhealthy, & ribs showing really got to me. Not because the images itself was unpleasant, but the fact that they had no control over the situation. The Jews couldn't decide that they wanted to eat at a certain time or even how much they would receive. Their life depended strictly upon the Germans and they care nothing about the Jews. Like others I can say I feel what they went through, but that's not the case. I can only imagine what it was like to be held against your will, starving, working sun up to sun down in the freezing cold and have no say so what so ever. They say only the strong survive, but in my eyes ALL Jews who experienced this tragic situation is STRONG.
ReplyDeleteWhen the video first started the images weren't that much on the disturbing side...but as the video continued the disturbing photos starting to stand out. The first thoughts that popped in my head was how could someone watch another human go through the hell that the Jews had to go through, and how could someone hate someone so much that it pushes them to do such a thing. Seeing how small the victims were disturbed me the most, no one deserve to be treated as the Jews were treated. At times you'll see pictures that resembled joy on the outside, where you would catch a victim smiling. But still I couldn't allow myself to smile knowing that there's a possibility that their smiles were forced,smiles that they put on their faces just to show a little hope. It was a very emotional and intense video. ):
ReplyDeleteWhen looking at the video it made me mad to see all those people tortured and killed just because of their religion. The pictures that got to me the most was THE FINAL SOLUTION'S because it was dead bodies of adults,children, etc every where. When looking at them pictures it makes me ask a question. Who could have the guts to kill innocent people? Why did they torture them when they where still going to kill them? Learning about the Holocaust was very emotional. The whole situation was stupid and upset a lot of people including me.
ReplyDeleteThe video made me upset and a little angry, I don't understand how someone can do these to people and put them through the things they had to go through. I got real upset when I saw the pictures of the children, I was close to tears when I saw them cause it really upset and hurt me to know that little children died and were killed for no reason... I wish all the bad people in the world would just disappear maybe then the world would be at peace...
ReplyDeleteThe video was very sad. It looked as if they only had skin and bones, no meat. I'm glad we are not living that way today because I wouldn't know what to do. Most of the things I saw were disturbing to me, like their body shapes. No one smiled during the tragedy, all frowns. Some of their faces were starting to discolor, and everybody looked dirty and thrown away. When they were liberated everyone facial expressions changed and became more exciting to see. They said they could never forget about the tragedy and they hope it never happens again. I don't think it should've happened at all because they were so innocent. But it's life, full of surprises.
ReplyDeleteIt was sad, tragic, and heartbreaking what they did to the Jews. I don't understand how and why they did what they did to them. They cannot help that they were Jewish so why kill somebody because of their religion. And how can people be so inhumane and treat people that way. The that stood out the most to me was how skinny they were because they were not fed how they was suppose to be fed.
ReplyDeleteI find these video to be very desturbing, but also very informative.The pictures show not only how the jews are treated but the condition that they are forced to live in.From the video the old woman was talking about how music was there outlet,without being able to sing and be around one another the probaly wouldnt of been able to survive in the camp. As u can look and see the many corps lieing on top of one another u begin to feel a great pain in your heart,not because you hade anything to do with it, u just think to your self how can people be so cruel, to kill children and even some infants.I did not no that one man with right amount of words focused into a great speech can cause so many deaths.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very sad & disturbing video. Sad because of how they killed all those people for being Jews. I don't feel that it's right for the Nazi's to treat the Jews the way they did because I believe that "Dust is Dust is Dust". An Example of these those little children outside wrapped up real tight because of the bad weather, Wherever the Nazi's were I'm pretty sure they were warm and not about to freeze to death. I also find this video disturbing because how could you have the heart to kill this many people, and some children and babies.

ReplyDeleteWhen i looked at the two videos,the pictures make me feel sorry and sad for those people, it made me think a lot, like what if that was to happen to me and my family or friends. Some of the pictures were disturbing and hard to look at mostly the ones with the dead bodies.
ReplyDeleteFor me that was sad & disturbing.But really,what did the Jews do so wrong that cause all this?.It wasn't right for the Nazi's treat them like this but how could they have done it without caring?.That's just something I don't understand.I also don't understand why the all those Jew's were killed.What could've the world be like if the Holocaust never happened?.

ReplyDeleteAs i looked at the video it was very shocking because a lot of people lost their lives just for being Jewish in my eyes it isn't right for young and old people to lose their lives. Plus there were little kids who died due to the Nazis actions upon the Jewish people. I know life is not fair but this was just wrong all the way!!

The picture that shocked me the most was when men and children was standing behind this bob wire fence and smiling, the first thing that came to my head was, how could you smile when your going thru such a tragic situation.

ReplyDeleteAll of the pictures are heart breaking and it's a tragedy that one mans actions could harm so many people. I feel sorry for the survivors that have to live with that for the rest of their lives. Seeing the conditions that the Jews where living in made me understand why so many of them died and made me wonder what they had to do to survive. The bodies I saw in the mass graves made me wonder how the Nazis could do this and still sleep at night. The pictures that stood out to me the most are the ones of the modern day Nazis. How could anybody think that what the Nazis did was a good thing. With people like that in this world its no telling what the future will bring.
ReplyDeleteThe videos were more emotional then shocking. We have been learning different facts about the Holocaust and what the people wen through but it is different when you see their faces. They pictures showed sadness, imprisonment and torture. The image that stuck out the most for me was the image that was bodies stacked really high in a ditch that was dug. I believe that dogs shouldn't even be treated this way, With NO respect.

The first thing that came to mind when I watched the video was... How can a human being do such things to another human being? One of the pictures that really caught my eye was the one with the men who were really skinny. I'm assuming it's because they didn't eat much, buts that's just sad. They killed and harmed so many innocent people. They treated them so wrong. Some of the images did show them smiling but that doesn't mean they was happy, inside they was still hurting. To me it was a depressing and upsetting video. A quote from the video that caught my eye was,“We had hoped that it will never happen again....But we were wrong!”

ReplyDeleteThe pictures that came up i felt shocked because they don't have no business being like that they don't need to be like that.It was like the pictures was telling me to help them because they really need the help.The two pictures that really got me the most was was the house that was on fire because i was worried that somebody might be in the house burning up and the other picture that got me was the picture with the people that look like they haven't eat in weeks i like really wanted to help them when i saw that i really feel sorry for them.

The first thing that I saw when I watched the video was how people can treat kids the way they did. One of the pictures that caught my eye was with the kids who were really skinny. I'm thinking it's because they didn't eat, but if so that’s wrong. They harmed and killed so many innocent people. They treated them bad. But some of the images did show them smiling but I don’t know if that meant they was happy because they could’ve been smiling to hide the pain. I feel it was a depressing video.
ReplyDeleteThe images in the video were very gruesome. The picture of the people with the skeleton like figures made my stomach turn. How could on man do this to people because he was not happy with himself? Six million Jews lost their life for nothing at all. Innocent children and adults lost their life because they did not have blonde hair and blue eyes. The sadness on the people face standing behind the barbed wire being treated like wild animals upsets me no one deserves this. This video no the whole Holocaust upsets me. Six million killed with some survivors who live on the tell their story. A story I want to hear because right now i don't understand why. This subject makes me think more about my actions and how i live everyday. This tragic which we call the Holocaust makes me want to know about what happens around me and what took place before I was born. The Holocaust was a very tragic time for the Jews this happened to them with out fore warning and it can happen to anybody.

If that wasn't punishment I don't know what is nobody deserves to have there life taken just because they don't live up to others expectations or aren't who they want them to be.This is something that everybody should look at because it will change the way you look at life I know it did for me.

ReplyDeleteIn the slideshow we watched pictures of the people who died from the holocaust.I saw some who had on the star of david.Many people were robbed or forced to move from their homes.Some people were put in these moving cells that was called boxcars.
ReplyDeleteWell About the pictures that we seen the other day I really think they were sad. just thinking about those pictures listing to the music that was playing in the background almost brought tears to my eyes, as i looked and wrote a description on each one i just think as if that could have been one of my parents, best friend, sister,brother Etc. I just feel bad/sorry for all the millions of people that was killed/trapped,beat, or burned. If I could I would invest in a lot of money! I would possible help w/ others to become stronger and provide them w/ any and everything they need.... I just feel so sorry for the children,babies,and anybody else that did not make it threw the HOLOCAUST.
ReplyDeleteIn The Slideshow we watched , was all sorts of pictures and i think that they did the jews wrong , because of what they did , And It Was Nice Of Them to Save their belongings such as clothes, shoes, and etc. but after all that i still think jews could overpower.

Their should be no one in the world that deserve that no matter how bad they are or what wrong they have done they shouldn't go through it. Every picture brought tears to my eyes, but we can't go back and change it, so what's done is done, but my prayers go out to Jews, and their family's that lost people in this hardship.
